More about Small Learning Commuinities

Davis High School is one of the largest high schools in Utah.  While our size creates many advantages, it also results in several challenges.

We felt a significant need for a smaller learning environment that would bring a more personalized approach to education.  The SLC structure allows students to be in a smaller community of peers with similar interests and aspirations.

At Davis High School there are five Small Learning Communities:

  * School of Arts & Communications (A&C)
  * Davis Business School (DBS)
  * School of Fitness & Health Services (FHS)
  * School of Social & Human Services (SHS)
  * School of Science, Technology, Engineering & Math (STEM)

Each SLC is led by a Dean, a counselor, an administrator and a cross-section of faculty.  The SLC meetsto discuss ways of reaching out to students to help them experience success and pursue their career, employment or educational goals.
